Official Website of Hadrian's Wall Country

A virtual gateway to Hadrian's Wall Country, including plan your visit, roman site details and a visual gallery.

Plan your invasion – let others take the strain!

For some, part of the fun of taking a break is the organising, both before and during the break. Other people would just like someone else to do the organising, leaving them free as a bird to enjoy their travels.

Biking or hiking, touring or taxiing, there’s a company to help you get the best out of Hadrian’s Wall Country.

There are companies who will transport your luggage for you, leaving you to arrange your accommodation. And there are operators who will arrange all the details of a self-guided holiday from maps to accommodation. Staying in local guesthouses, hotels, inns, or bed and breakfast accommodation, you’re generally free to choose where to enjoy an evening meal. Packed lunches can often be prebooked and baggage can usually be transported. Different lengths of either cycling or walking holidays are available depending on how energetic you might feel – the key is to leave enough time for exploring the attractions along the way (Roman and otherwise). And, some operators offer to build in ‘rest’ days for just chilling out.

If you prefer the guided option, then that’s no problem; coach tours and guided walking are available. As a final option, you can use local taxi companies to whizz you from station or accommodation to the highlights that catch your imagination. Book a bio-diesel cab and help preserve Hadrian’s Wall's fragile environment for future millennia.
