Hadrian's Wall Itineraries

Today the Wall sits within the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site, which stretches across 150 miles of northern England, reaching all the way to Ravenglass in Cumbria. Many of the forts, turrets and sections of Wall can be visited, along with some great museums, and history is still to be unearthed at live excavations that run every year throughout the site.

So with 14 major Roman sites, forts and museums, where should you go?

If you would like to combine your visit to a fort with some Wall-watching then Birdoswald, Housesteads, Chesters and Segedunum are the places to be. Each of these sites still has Wall remains for you to see.

Alternatively if you would like to see one of the many impressive stretches of Wall in their landscape away from forts and museums, we have included the best in our Frontier Experiences.

The Frontier Experiences are mini itineraries that combine Wall watching with other places of interest, both Roman and non-Roman. Click on the links below to view the experiences in full.

Sites with Wall remains are identified with the highlighted text WALL.
