Great North Museum
There are real people to remember, and real stories to be told at Newcastle's new Great North Museum. The museum opened in May 2009, this epic project combines four museums under one roof. The Roman collections from Newcastle University's Museum of Antiquities form just part of the new museum. Taking centre stage is the interactive full-scale model of the Wall. There is also Europe's only virtual reconstruction of the cult of Mithras. Amongst the highloghts of the museum are 11 new galleries, one of which includes a life-size T.Rex dinosaur skeleton.
